Active’s Rachel and Laura join the ‘Big Sleepout’

Team Active is no stranger to sleeping out for The Teesside Charity as directors Karl Pemberton and Paul Gibson took part in the big sleep out a few years ago, and most recently Jessica Wilkinson from the paraplanning team joined the ‘little tees sleepout’ back in April. So, when the invite for the annual October ‘big tees sleepout’ taking place at Middlesbrough College dropped in to our inbox, Rachel McCulloch and Laura Richmond already had their sleeping bags packed!

“We are really nervous as this is out of our comfort zones” said office manager Rachel “but we’re trying to focus on the reason we are doing this – to raise money and awareness for the ongoing issue of homelessness and poverty here on our doorstep”

The event takes place on Friday 14th October at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium. The money raised on the night will go towards helping to stock local food banks, provide children’s presents to the Salvation Army Toy Appeal and to help support homeless initiatives on Teesside.

“Having a 2 year old, it really hits home that some children in Teesside are living in poverty” says Client Support Officer, Laura “We are hoping to raise at least £250 for local causes”

“As patrons of The Teesside Charity, the team here are great supporters and always get involved if they can” says MD Karl Pemberton

As well as Jess taking part in the Little Tees sleepout back in April, our Ruth Conner and Louise Woods joined 30 other people to ‘Walk (10 miles) in to the light’ raising over £1000 in the process – I could not be prouder of the whole team!”
