Career Profile

Until the end of 2011 Gary was UK Director of Small Business Banking at Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks, having previously held the roles of Head of Retail Banking and Head of Business Banking for Yorkshire bank.

With a wealth of banking experience as well as a long history of advising businesses of all sizes Gary is well suited to his new career as Non Executive Director and Adviser to a number of SMEs in the region.

Gary is an active member of the North East and Yorkshire business community, he is a mentor/tutor on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Programme run by Leeds University Business School and sits on the Investment Panel for the North East Let’s Grow Fund.

Gary was awarded an MBE for Services to the Finance Industry in the 2008 New Year’s Honours List and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Scotland.

Role at Active

As Non Executive Director at Active Gary plays an key role both internally as part of the board and management team, and externally in representing the firm.
