Active named one of the North East’s best places to work

We are celebrating again after being named by The Journal as one of the 50 Best Places to Work in the North East for 2019.

A range of organisations from around the North East were scored on factors such as policies for staff development, community involvement, employment packages, staff perks, and looking after the physical and mental health of their workers.

Active was named number 28 in the survey, with our strong focus on continual professional development identified as a key strength. Eight members of the team completed further professional qualifications in 2018, and more (qualifications) have already been achieved in the first half of 2019.  In addition to this, 5 members of our team are now Fellows of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), the CII’s highest level of qualification.

As a firm, we have held the highly coveted “Chartered Firm” status with the CII since 2013, and have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold twice since 2014.

“We consider staff mental health and wellbeing as vitally important for a happy workforce, so as well as offering flexible and part time working, we have also invested in an independent counselling service that the team can call upon if required” comments Karl Pemberton, Active’s Managing Director.

Last year, we also invested more than £600,000 with the purchase and refurbishment of the head office and a re-branding exercise.  The new office layout (as well as featuring enhanced client amenities) focuses on staff-wellbeing and includes a team area with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and seating areas, digital TV & Wi-Fi.

“It has been a great year so far for Active as we were also named one of the “Best Financial Advisers To Work For” at the 2019 Professional Adviser Awards” comments Karl Pemberton “To also be named by The Journal as one of the best places to work is another tremendous boost for the team and recognition for everyone’s hard work and commitment to the business and our clients”

The initiative is part of ncj Media’s ’Invest in the North East’ campaign, which aims to make the North East a better place to work & live.
