Chartered Financial Planner

Emma Cherrington

Career Profile

Emma studied Law at University, achieving a LLB Law (Hons) degree in 2012 and went on to work for a leading North East Law firm.

After making the decision that this wasn’t the career for her, in 2013 she began her journey in financial services, gaining vital knowledge and experience in various roles before qualifying as a mortgage adviser in 2014. The following year, Emma became an independent financial adviser and joined Active in 2016.

Continuing her study while working full time, Emma is now a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society – the highest levels of qualification awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and two accolades that reflect her commitment to her own professional development.

Since 2014, Emma has been named annually in various guides, including the “UK’s Top-Rated Financial Advisers” published in The Times and The Telegraph newspapers. These awards are based on client feedback on their interactions and experience with Emma.

Key Services

As a Chartered Fellow, Emma is extremely knowledgeable, advising clients on a variety of areas (of financial advice) such as advice for investments,  pensions and estate planning.

Emma specialises in clients working within the NHS and those dealing with financial matters following a divorce.

Emma also advises on family, business and associated mortgage protection (including life cover, critical illness and income protection etc).

Emma prides herself on maintaining excellent relationships with her clients, which she believes comes from being in regular contact and ensuring they are fully informed every step of the way.

She works hard to provide excellent customer service and regularly generates business from referrals, which reflects a high level of client satisfaction as well as from a small network of professional connections.

Emma’s clients are based mainly in the North East; Teesside and County Durham, but she does advise clients across the whole of the UK.

“Emma was an absolute super star. She really knows her stuff. Emma spent precious time with me, understanding my needs, my financial situation and my business. Emma explains things clearly and pragmatically. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend her”
